| Mrs. Hightower was first elected to the Escambia County School Board as the representative from District 4 in 2004. She was re-elected in 2008. Mrs. Hightower is one of one-hundred certified board members in the state as a result of specialized training that she received from the Florida School Boards Association. Mrs. Hightower holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education from the University of Alabama. Mrs. Hightower has taught in the states of Alabama, Texas and Georgia. Mrs. Hightower is married to Jim Hightower, a professor and coordinator of Paralegal Studies at Pensacola State College, for forty years and has two sons, Andy and Patrick, who were educated in the public schools of Escambia County. |
