WHY PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT?

Professional Development must be targeted based on a need to improve job performance. To that end, the State of Florida adopted a Professional Development Protocol framework to ensure that professional development is aligned with student needs.

Your task, when determining which workshops to request, is to consider the following.

PLANNING
INDIVIDUAL NEEDS ASSESSMENT
Will attendance at this training meet your individual needs for professional development?
CONTENT
Are the concepts to be taught relevant to your current position?

LEARNING
RELEVANCE OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Do the training objectives reflect my professional growth objectives?
LEARNER OUTCOMES
Do I understand how learner outcomes are influenced by the implementation of this training?

IMPLEMENTING
TRANSFER TO STUDENTS
Will I be able to use the knowledge and/or skills learned in the training to impact student achievement in my classroom/school/district?
WEB-BASED RESOURCES and ASSISTANCE
Will I utilize the web-based resources and assistance provided to me during this training as a way of improving my skills?

EVALUATION
IMPLEMENTATION
Will I apply newly learned knowledge and/or skills in my work environment?

It is important to note that unless receipt of a stipend is noted in the verbiage to a workshop, there will be no pay to attend any training provided by FDLRS/Westgate or its associated partners.
