THE SCHOOL BOARD OF

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, FLORIDA

MINUTES, NOVEMBER 16, 2004

            The School Board of Escambia County, Florida, convened in an Installation Ceremony at 5:30 p.m., in Room 160, at the J.E. Hall Educational Services Center, 30 East Texar Drive, Pensacola, Florida, with the following present:                       

            Board Members:           Mr. Gary L. Bergosh

                                                Mrs. Cary Stidham

                                                Mr. Ronnie Clark

                                                Mrs. Patty Hightower

                                                Mr. Pete Gindl                                     

            School Board General Counsel:  Mrs. Ellen D. Odom

            Superintendent of Schools:         Mr. Jim Paul

     I.               WELCOME 

Mrs. Cary Stidham, School Board Member, District II, welcomed the assembly.  It was noted that two new Board Members and a returning Superintendent would be installed. 

   II.               INVOCATION

      Pastor Greg Burns, New Dimensions Christian Center, gave the invocation. 

III.               PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Mr. Ronnie Clark, School Board Member, District III, led the pledge of allegiance. 

IV.               INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS

Mr. Gary Bergosh, School Board Member, District I, introduced the guests who were present.  

  V.               INSTALLATION AND REMARKS

      Mrs. Patty Hightower was installed as School Board Member, District IV, by Mr. Jimmy Hightower; Mr. Pete Gindl was installed as School Board Member, District V, by Mrs. Sue Gindl; and Mr. Jim Paul was installed as Superintendent of Schools, by Mrs. Shannon Paul.  Mrs. Hightower and Mr. Gindl each expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to serve as a School Board Member.  They also thanked their family, friends, and community members for their support and expressed their commitment to ensuring that all children in Escambia County receive a quality education.  Mr. Paul expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to continue to serve as the Superintendent of Schools for the next four years.  He also thanked God, his wife and family members for their support and stated that he would continue to do his best to make decisions that would be in the best interest of the students.  

      The Organizational Meeting ended at 5:44 p.m. (NOTE: An Organizational Meeting immediately followed at 5:45 p.m.
