THE SCHOOL BOARD OF

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, FLORIDA

 

MINUTES, NOVEMBER 19, 2002

 

The School Board of Escambia County, Florida, convened in an Installation Ceremony at 5:30 p.m., in Room 160, at the J.E. Hall Educational Services Center, 30 East Texar Drive, Pensacola, Florida, with the following present:   

 

Board Members:  Mr. Gary L. Bergosh

Mrs. Cary Stidham

Mr. Ronnie Clark

Dr. John DeWitt

Ms. Linda Finkelstein    

 

School Board Attorney:    Mr. Francisco M. Negron, Jr.

 

Superintendent of Schools:  Mr. Jim Paul

 

I.  WELCOME

 

Dr. John DeWitt, School Board Member, District IV, welcomed the assembly.  It was noted that two returning Board Members and a new Board Member would be installed.

 

II.  INVOCATION

 

Reverend Isaac Williams, Bethel AME Church, gave the invocation.

 

III. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

 

Mr. Francisco M. Negron, Jr., School Board Attorney led the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

IV.  INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS

 

Ms. Linda Finkelstein, School Board Member, District V, introduced the guests who were present.

 

V.  INSTALLATION

 

Mr. Gary L. Bergosh was installed as School Board Member, District I, by Mrs. Carissa Bergosh; Mrs. Cary Stidham, School Board Member, District II, was installed by Mr. Ed Nixon; and Mr. Ronnie Clark, School Board Member, District III, was installed by Reverend Isaac Williams.

 

VI. REMARKS

 

Mr. Bergosh expressed appreciation for the opportunity to continue to serve as a School Board Member for the next four years.  He also thanked God, his wife and family members for their support and stated that he would continue to do his best to make decisions that would be in the best interest of the students.

 

Mrs. Stidham expressed appreciation for the opportunity to continue to serve as a School Board Member for another four years.  She also thanked her husband and family members for their support and stated that she would continue to her best to make decisions that would be in the best interest of the students.

 

Mr. Clark expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve as a School Board Member for the next four years.  He also thanked God, his wife, family members, church members (Bethel AME Church), the community and Reverend Isaac Williams, campaign manager, for their support.  He expressed his commitment to public education in order to ensure that all children get the quality education they deserve.
