THE SCHOOL BOARD OF

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, FLORIDA

MINUTES, AUGUST 29, 2003

The School Board of Escambia County, Florida, convened in Special Meeting at 9:00 a.m., in the Board Room, at the Dr. Vernon McDaniel Building, 215 West Garden Street, Pensacola, Florida, with the following present:

Chair: Ms. Linda Finkelstein Vice Chair: Mrs. Cary Stidham

Board Members: Mrs. Carissa Bergosh (was not present)

Mr. Ronnie L. Clark

Dr. John DeWitt (was not present)

School Board Attorney: Mr. Francisco M. Negron, Jr.

Superintendent of Schools: Mr. Jim Paul (was not present)

I. CALL TO ORDER/ADOPTION OF AGENDA

Ms. Finkelstein called the Special Meeting to order at 9:10 a.m. On motion by Mrs. Stidham, seconded by Mr. Clark, adoption of agenda, was approved 3 to 0, with Mrs. Bergosh and Dr. DeWitt absent for vote.

II. PURCHASING

(Supplementary Minute Book, Exhibit “A”)

1. Scientific Learning "Fast ForWord" Software for Various Schools

Motion was made by Mrs. Stidham, seconded by Mr. Clark, to approve Scientific Learning “Fast ForWord” Software for Various Schools.

The Board recognized Henry Marshall, who expressed his support of the “Fast ForWord” software.

Motion was approved 3 to 0, with Mrs. Bergosh and Dr. DeWitt absent for vote.

III. ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 9:15 a.m.
