Meet Mrs. Ray!
I am a native Texan, born and raised in Southwest Texas. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin in Speech Pathology. My post-graduate studies were completed at The George Washington University in Educational Administration and Human Development. I have been an educator in the field of Special Education for over 14 years and an Administrator for approximately 5 months. Although I have embraced the myriad of experiences as a teacher, I wanted the opportunity to influence the realms that existed outside the restrictions of the classroom. This epiphany brought me to the realization that I desired to have more authority on the education students receive, the manner in which it is delivered, and the relationships established in schools.
This unexpected gift has endless possibilities and my new responsibilities will allow me to support the emotional, social, and educational needs of our unique population of students.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my first semester, and look forward to a long term stay in the School District of Escambia County. I am planting new roots with hopes that the quaint community of Northview will adopt this optimistic, Texas gal, who believes so strongly in public education and promoting a standard of academic excellence. I support the collaborative model in developing a strategic plan to adequately prepare our students for the challenges of the FCAT, and the attainment of post-secondary aspirations. Building a sturdy foundation built on mutual respect and trust is the basis to preserving high standards, promoting a positive school culture, and encouraging active participation from all members of the school community.
Northview High School is an excellent school with an amazing history and bright future. The high school setting has proven to be a challenging, yet rewarding experience. We are devoted to ensuring students thrive with delivery methods that meet their specific learning styles, are in educational climates that are perceived as non-threatening, and have teachers that are enthusiastic about the content and their students. I have an open door policy and receptive to your commentary, helpful suggestions, and informal chats. Things are bigger in Texas, but my Florida counterparts have proven that their hearts and devotion to children are comparable to none!!
