Test Information

The following is a list of tests available to students in Escambia County. Waivers may be available for required fees.



PERT: Postsecondary Education Readiness Test

PERT is used by 28 Florida colleges to assess readiness to take college level math and English.

PERT is given to 11th graders who scored a 2 or 3 on FCAT Reading OR scored a 2, 3, or 4 on FCAT Math.

Students who do not meet college readiness scores will be remediated in 12th grade.

Required Tests

EOC - End of Course Exams

End of Course Exams are given in Algebra 1, Geometry and Biology.

EOC exams are worth 30% of a student's FINAL grade. Credit will not be awarded until the EOC scores have been released.

9th graders who entered in 2011-2012 school year and beyond MUST pass the Algebra 1 EOC to earn their Algebra 1 credit.

FCAT - Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test

Reading, mathematics and writing are administered in the spring of the 10th grade year for students who began their high school career in 2009-2010 school year. A passing score is required for a standard diploma.

Students entering 9th grade in the 2010-2011 school year will be required to complete the FCAT Reading in the 10th grade, and all End of Course Exams as designated by the Florida Department of Education during their 9th and 10th grade years.

FCAT Science is administered in Grade 11. Students who do not meet the requirement will be required to participate and successfully complete an additional science course in the 12th grade.

AP - Advanced Placement Examination ASVAB - Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery

Testing date is in the month of November
Given to juniors and/or seniors
Given at local high schools
No cost

PSAT/NMSQT - Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test and National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test

Testing date is in the month of October
For college-bound juniors; sophomores may take for practice
Tests in mathematics and English
Academically talented students compete for National Merit Scholarship Semi-finalist standing
Fee: $13.00

SAT - Scholastic Aptitude Test of College Board Tests

College-bound students may take as part of entrance requirements
Required for consideration as National Merit Scholarship Finalist
Measures performance in mathematics, English, and writing
Basic fee $48.00 for all students
