In an effort to meet the provisions of the new Class Size Reduction Bill (SB 30A and HB 47A), Florida legislators have made important changes in graduation requirements for students in Florida high schools. Beginning with the 2003-2004 school year, all students scheduled to graduate in 2004 and thereafter may select one of three high school graduation options:

Option 1: Completion of the general four-year requirements for high school graduation
Option 2: Completion of a three-year standard college preparatory program of a minimum of 18 credits in grades 9 through 12
Option 3:
Completion of a three-year career preparatory program requiring a minimum of 18 credits in grades 9 through 12

If you fail to choose an option and submit the required form by 8/20/03, your child will be assigned Option 1. You may elect to change your choice of options during the spring registration process of each year; students who complete the 18 credit option may not return for a fourth year to participate in extra-curricular activities including athletics.
